Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, here’s my go-to recipe for making margaritas at home. Margaritas are my all time favorite cocktail and over the years, I’ve tweaked my recipe here and there. If there’s one thing this quarantine has given me, it’s the time and excuse to master the perfect at-home margarita. Keep reading for this super simple no-fail margarita recipe.
I’m notorious for just pouring a little of this and a little of that in the shaker but I’ve tried my best to include exact measurements below.
Here’s what you will need:
ICE: Two handfuls, crushed if you have it.
TRES AGAVES ORGANIC MIX: I always go by how much is in the cocktail shaker but I’m estimating about 2/3 cup or so of mix. Tres Agaves is a really good one and it’s organic.
SPARKLING WATER: 1/4 cup or so of sparkling water. I like an orange or lime flavored sparkling water but I think anything citrus would be great.
TEQUILA: A shot (or two!) of your favorite tequila. I just used what we had on hand but it’s always a blanco.
LIME: A few slices to squeeze in the shaker and a slice for garnish.
SALT FOR RIM: Of course this is totally optional but I always salt the rim and use pink Himalayan sea salt.
DIRECTIONS:
Salt rim of margarita glass. Fill cocktail shaker with a handful of crushed ice. Add margarita mix and tequila to shaker. Shake vigorously for a minute or two. Open shaker and pour contents in to your glass, including ice. Add the sparkling water as a topper to your glass (to avoid making a mess with the carbonation in the shaker) with a few squeezes of lime. Stir and top with more crushed ice–as much as your glass will allow. Garnish with a slice of lime. Enjoy!
